Beginner Guide ⏱️ 7 min read 📅 June 2026

So you've just opened Super Ninja Adventure for the first time and you're staring at your ninja standing on a platform, not sure what to do next. That's totally normal. The game doesn't hold your hand with lengthy tutorials — it drops you in and trusts you to figure it out. Which is great! But it can also be a bit overwhelming.

This guide is for complete beginners. I'm going to walk you through what everything does, how the game is structured, and what to focus on in your first few sessions. By the end of this, you'll have a solid foundation to start enjoying the game properly.

What Is Super Ninja Adventure?

Super Ninja Adventure is a side-scrolling platformer. That means your character moves left and right across a 2D level, jumping over gaps, climbing platforms, and fighting enemies along the way. Think classic arcade platformers — the focus is on tight movement, precise jumps, and satisfying combat.

You play as a ninja who needs to fight through a series of increasingly challenging levels. Each level ends with a goal checkpoint. Along the way, there are enemies to defeat, collectibles to grab, and hazards to avoid. It's simple in concept but rewarding in execution.

The Controls — Desktop

On desktop, you have two control options and both work well:

  • Arrow Keys: Left/Right arrows to move, Up arrow to jump
  • WASD: A/D to move left and right, W to jump
  • Attack: Usually the spacebar or a dedicated attack key — check the in-game indicator

I personally prefer WASD because my left hand is already positioned there naturally. But arrow keys are perfectly fine if that feels more comfortable. The important thing is consistency — pick one and stick with it so your muscle memory can develop.

The Controls — Mobile

On mobile, the game provides on-screen buttons. There's a directional pad on the left side of the screen and action buttons on the right. The layout is intuitive and mirrors what you'd find on a physical gamepad.

One thing to keep in mind on mobile: the jump and attack buttons are close together, and in the heat of the moment it's easy to press the wrong one. Spend your first level just getting comfortable with the button positions before worrying about enemies.

Mobile Tip: Play in landscape mode. The game is significantly easier to control with your phone held horizontally, giving your thumbs a more natural position over the buttons.

Understanding the Level Structure

Each level in Super Ninja Adventure has three main elements:

  1. Platforms: The surfaces you stand and jump on. Some move, some crumble when you step on them, some are higher or lower than they appear.
  2. Enemies: Characters that will damage you on contact or by attacking. Every enemy type has a distinct look and behaviour.
  3. Collectibles: Golden stars placed around the level. Getting all of them in a level earns you a bonus.

Your goal is to reach the end flag at the right side of each level. Everything else is optional — but optional things are usually the most fun.

Your Health and Lives

Your ninja has a health bar displayed at the top of the screen. Taking damage reduces it. When it hits zero, you lose a life and restart from the last checkpoint you touched. If you lose all your lives, you restart the level from the beginning.

Checkpoints are the yellow flag markers you'll see mid-level. Always make sure to run through them — they save your progress within the level. Missing a checkpoint and then dying halfway through means a much longer retry.

Enemy Types for Beginners

In the early levels, you'll encounter a handful of enemy types. Here's what to expect:

  • Patrol Grunts: Walk back and forth. Easy to predict and slash when they pause at the end of their patrol path.
  • Jump Grunts: Bounce up and down. Time your slash to hit them when they land, since they're briefly stationary.
  • Ranged Enemies: Throw projectiles at you. Close the distance quickly to avoid the projectiles and get in a melee slash.

In the first three levels, you won't face anything more complex than these. Take each enemy type as a learning opportunity. The game introduces new enemies gradually, so you're never overwhelmed all at once.

What to Focus On in Your First Session

I'd suggest giving yourself a specific goal for your first session rather than just playing aimlessly. Here's what I'd focus on:

  1. Complete the first two levels without worrying about collectibles
  2. In level three, try to find at least two hidden collectibles
  3. Practice the short hop jump versus the full jump on purpose
  4. Notice the patrol patterns of each enemy type you encounter

After one session with those goals in mind, you'll have a much better feel for how the game works. Don't rush to later levels. The early levels are genuinely fun, and they're also where you build the skills that make harder levels feel manageable.

Common Beginner Mistakes

  • Jumping too early on moving platforms — wait for the platform to come to you
  • Running into enemies instead of slashing them — keep a small distance
  • Ignoring checkpoints — always touch them as you pass
  • Spamming the attack button — it leaves you vulnerable between swings
  • Forgetting that you can jump on some enemies to stun them

You're Ready — Now Go Play

That's honestly everything you need to know as a beginner. Super Ninja Adventure is the kind of game that teaches itself through play — the more time you spend with it, the more naturally everything comes. These concepts will stop feeling like things you have to think about and start feeling like instincts.

Give yourself permission to fail early levels while you're learning. Every failed run teaches you something. And when you finally clear that tricky section that's been stopping you? That feeling is what this game is all about.
